Le film Nadia Cherabi Labidi : L’envers du miroir. Brouhahas. Réactions:rires et chuchotements dans la salle avant que le générique ne surgisse presque à l’heure sur l’écran.
Nulle bonne conscience ou poudre aux yeux et nul misérabilisme non plus dans cette histoire qui, si elle était tombée entre les mains d’un mauvais cinéaste, serait à dominance glauque et larmoyante. Nadia Cherabi-Laribi a réussi au contraire à hisser tout ça assez haut. Dans son film, il y a un dosage, un équilibre qui fonctionnent très bien entre les très beaux plans d’Alger, extérieurs magnifiques (beauté du panorama de la ville blanche, bord de mer, scènes de nuit pas aussi angoissantes qu’on l’imagine) et les scènes parfois dramatiques, fermées d’intérieur.
C’est comme si le drame de Selma trouve soudain son salut, sa respiration, son ressourcement ans ces ouvertures vertigineuses sur la baie d’Alger, sur l’extérieur, sur le monde… Nadia a fait un film mélodramatique mais nulle part elle donne des leçons ni condamne. Elle ne fait pas pleurer. Elle s’adresse à la réflexion, à l’intelligence du spectateur pour le sortir des idées toutes faites sur la faute, la culpabilité, la vengeance et sur le secret de vivre ensemble (voir le très beau personnage de Doudja).
Bref, l’envers du miroir, si ce n’est pas un film pour cinéphile pur et exigeant, est un film grand public très honnête et très digne. Certains personnage jouent d’ailleurs avec une bonne justesse dans cet album réaliste d’Alger triste et plein d’espoir à la fois (Selma violée, jetée dans la rue, sdf sous les arcades et qui retrouve un travail, une dignité, une voiture et… son enfant ! La réussite quoi).
Dans ce conte moral sur l’étonnant combat des femmes algériennes, il y a les hommes : grands pourvoyeurs de cynisme et de lâcheté mais aussi parfois avec un cœur très tendre (de macho furieux, Kamel le taxieur de nuit, que Rachid Farès joue à merveille, évolue dans l’histoire jusqu’à être prêt à épouser Salma !). Quelle belle leçon de tolérance !
